Casa des Artistas is a newly constructed adobe home set on five acres, offering glorious views of Albuquerque, the Pecos National Forest, and the surrounding mountains. Located in a charming artist community just outside Santa Fe, this home is a peaceful retreat only 15 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza.
Originally designed and built by Fremont Ellis in 1932 for the artist Bea Binkley, the original house tragically burned down in the 1980s. It has since been lovingly restored, rebuilt, and expanded in 2008-2009. The result is a stunning architectural gem that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern amenities. The home features three spacious bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a second-floor terrace with a hot tub, offering breathtaking views of the landscape. The gourmet kitchen, along with extraordinary living and dining rooms, provides the perfect setting for both relaxation and entertainment. Terraces surround the home, and an outdoor fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere for evening gatherings.
Casa des Artistas is built on multiple levels, with several stairs and an unprotected upper-story deck. Due to its layout, the home may not be ideal for small children.
The property also includes a carport, a laundry room, and trails that wind through 17 acres of land, providing ample opportunity to explore the scenic surroundings. Situated in the historic San Sebastian neighborhood, which was established as an artist colony by Fremont Ellis in the 1930s, the area is home to many well-known artists. The house itself sits on the side of a mountain and is surrounded by a beautiful pinon forest, offering both privacy and natural beauty.
