Perched on a spectacular ridgetop near the Santa Fe Opera, Casa Colibri offers an extraordinary combination of privacy, Southwestern elegance, and panoramic mountain views. Set on approximately 2.5 acres of natural piñon and juniper landscape, this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath retreat provides sweeping vistas of the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez, Ortiz, and Sandia mountain ranges.
Designed by architect Ralph Gillis, AIA, whose work reflects deep ties to Santa Fe’s design culture, Casa Colibri thoughtfully incorporates passive solar elements that take advantage of New Mexico’s abundant natural sunlight for both heating and illumination. Interiors by Laban Wingert and Jane Adkins, ASID, balance sophistication with comfort, creating welcoming spaces that complement the surrounding high-desert landscape.
Nearly every room offers its own unique view of the countryside, keeping the beauty of northern New Mexico constantly in sight. The comfortable living spaces provide plenty of room to gather, relax, and enjoy quiet evenings at home. A fireplace adds warmth and ambiance, while a flat-screen television with DVD player provides additional entertainment.
The home features three bedrooms with flexible accommodations. The primary bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, while the additional bedrooms offer two twin-size bed and double bed, providing comfortable sleeping arrangements for families or groups traveling together.
Outdoor living is one of Casa Colibri’s most memorable features. The covered portal offers a traditional kiva fireplace and an inviting setting for relaxing, dining outdoors, or watching the changing colors of the sunset across the surrounding mountains.
For an especially peaceful end to the day, settle into the private hot tub and enjoy the expansive New Mexico sky as the stars emerge overhead. The home’s elevated location and natural surroundings create a wonderful sense of seclusion and connection to the landscape.
The property’s 2.5 acres have been thoughtfully landscaped to complement the native piñon and juniper trees while minimizing irrigation needs, preserving the natural beauty and character of the setting.
For year-round comfort and convenience, Casa Colibri includes air conditioning, high-speed internet, a washer and dryer, and a security system. An outdoor dining area makes it easy to take advantage of Santa Fe’s beautiful weather while enjoying the surrounding views.
Casa Colibri is ideally positioned for guests who want tranquility without being too far from Santa Fe’s cultural attractions. The renowned Santa Fe Opera is just a short drive away, while the historic Plaza, galleries, museums, restaurants, and shops of downtown Santa Fe are also within convenient reach.
With approximately 2,400 square feet of living space, a private hot tub, expansive mountain views, distinctive architecture, and inviting indoor and outdoor living areas, Casa Colibri provides a memorable retreat for experiencing the beauty of northern New Mexico.
