Description
Casita Balentine is located in a quiet, private Historic Eastside compound, two blocks from Canyon Road with its many art galleries and fine dining restaurants and one block from Garcia Street Bookstore and Downtown Subscription coffee house. The downtown Plaza is an easy one mile walk via the tree-lined Santa Fe River Park and Trail.
This beautifully restored one bedroom, one bath historic adobe was built in the mid-1920s by celebrated adobe builder Kate Chapman, who also renovated many important Historic Eastside properties including El Zaguán. This house has all the elements that one would expect in an historic adobe - thick walls, hardwood floors, wood viga ceilings, kiva wood burning fireplace and a private courtyard with mature landscaping.
The open floor plan of the living room, kitchen and dining area is ideal for relaxing and creating a delightful meal. The incredible, well-stocked kitchen offers a SubZero fridge with 2 drawers, Wolf 4 burner gas stove and oven, Bosch dishwasher, GE Profile microwave, walnut and marble countertops, and wood cabinetry with exceptional, decorative pulls.
In the living room settle into the cozy, down-filled sofa to enjoy a crackling fire in the kiva fireplace while browsing one of the many books on the bookshelf. Notice the wooden grills and shutters on the windows, which are traditional Spanish Moorish designs typical of the Santa Fe style.
The bedroom offers a queen bed, desk, dresser, closet, and French doors that open onto the private back courtyard shaded by a gorgeous 100-year-old pear tree. The ensuite bathroom has a tub/shower combination and stacked washer/dryer.
Additional features in the home include skylights, in-floor radiant heat, air-conditioning, on-demand hot water, ultrafast 1 Gbps WiFi, flat screen HD TV with over 250 channels plus DVR, and a Weber gas grill plus a Weber charcoal grill.
There is designated off-street parking for one small-to-medium sized vehicle, but it is not suitable for large SUVs or trucks. Additional on-street parking is available one block away.
There is absolutely no smoking inside the house or outside in the courtyard.
30 night minimum stay.
