Description
In the rolling Sangre de Cristo foothills just north of Santa Fe, this stately gated home and attached guesthouse, designed by Michael Bodelson and built by Rick Brenner, combine elegant Southwestern style with comfort and livability.
The open-concept floor plan in the main house includes formal living and dining areas with a shared fireplace, an inviting chef’s kitchen, a family room, and three bedrooms that are both relaxed and sophisticated. A separate one bedroom casita provides guests with privacy and comfort. The casita includes a kitchen area, living room, full bath, and its own laundry.
The master suite is private and includes a spa-like bath, two walk-in closets, and access to a portal overlooking a rose garden. Serene portales offer great outdoor living. Warm, earthy hues, handsome hardwood and stone-tile flooring, five fireplaces, vigas, and stylish fixtures and finishes contribute to the inviting ambience.
The main house and casita are beautifully landscaped. They share a large enclosed terraced garden with flowers and butterfly bushes visible from all the windows. An ideal place to relax and dine, or sip a beverage on a shaded bench.
Casa del Norte has decorative hand-painted ceiling beams and lintels throughout. They were painted by Arizona artist Ted DeGrazia and were part of the DeGrazia studio in Tucson. The studio was torn down in the 1980s, but the beams were saved and built into this Santa Fe home.
Casa del Norte is close to downtown shopping and restaurants — only 2.8 miles to the plaza. The parking area for the northern Dale Ball trail system is just 1.5 miles away. Within minutes you can wander the ridge line with expansive views of Santa Fe, Sandia, and the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo mountains. The Santa Fe Opera is a twelve minute drive. And for skiers and hikers, the home is just off Hyde Park road with easy access to the Santa Fe ski area
PLEASE NOTE: There are security cameras installed outside of the property.
